The forthcoming products are expected to rely more heavily on Siri, building on recent enhancements to the voice assistant.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is getting ready to broaden its smart-home portfolio with three additions: a debut smart-home hub, an updated HomePod Mini, and a refreshed Apple TV 4K. The company has not verified a specific date, though the report suggests an unveiling could occur on October 13.

If the event proceeds as described, Apple would join Amazon and Google in the segment that already dominates connected-home hardware, aiming to draw more smart-home capabilities into its own ecosystem. The forthcoming products are expected to rely more heavily on Siri, building on recent enhancements to the voice assistant.

Apple’s first smart home hub

The centerpiece of the anticipated announcement is believed to be a smart-home hub, internally referred to as J490. Sources indicate the device may feature either a six-inch or seven-inch touchscreen mounted on a circular base, with one model designed for tabletop placement and another intended for wall installation.

Reports claim the hub will be powered by Apple’s A18 processor and will integrate Siri’s artificial-intelligence features alongside FaceTime support, including a front-facing camera for video calls. A newly designed operating system is said to introduce clock faces and widget functionality to the display.

According to leaks, the tabletop variant could also contain an integrated speaker, enabling users to address Siri and control compatible smart-home accessories from a single location.

HomePod Mini and Apple TV updates

Apple is also expected to release a refreshed HomePod Mini, marking the first revision since the speaker’s 2020 launch. The updated model is rumored to incorporate a newer processor, Siri AI capabilities, Apple’s N1 networking chip, and a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, which may enable Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

The Apple TV 4K is slated to receive a more powerful processor and Siri AI integration as well, though its exterior design is believed to remain unchanged. The internal upgrades are intended to support forthcoming software features rather than provide a visual redesign.

Earlier speculation had suggested that Apple’s larger HomePod would also be refreshed alongside the three devices, but recent information indicates that the larger speaker’s update has been delayed.

None of the details have been confirmed by Apple, which has not announced an October 13 event nor verified specifications for any of the rumored products, and the described lineup could still be altered before any official launch.
