Apple Adds New Android Devices to Trade-In Program

Apple has updated its trade-in program to include more Android devices, offering cash and credit toward new iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The tech giant recently increased the maximum trade-in values for many of its own products, while simultaneously expanding the list of eligible Android phones. This move comes as Apple introduces a new “Apple Upgrade” program, allowing customers to lease devices over one-, two-, or three-year periods with interest-free payments.

The company added five new Android devices to the trade-in list this week. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, Google Pixel 9 Pro, Google Pixel 9, OnePlus 13, and OnePlus 13R can now trade these phones in for credit toward Apple products. For users holding onto older Android models, the list remains largely the same, though a few values have shifted.

Maximum trade-in values for top devices

The trade-in value for a device depends on its condition and model. Apple has raised the maximum trade-in value for many iPhones, some by more than $20. The iPhone 16 Pro now offers up to $630, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max can fetch up to $720. Even older models like the iPhone 13 Pro Max see an increase, now valued at up to $340.

Mac trade-in values have seen more significant bumps. The Mac Studio received a notable $260 increase, now offering up to $1,305. The MacBook Pro tops the list at $855, followed by the iMac at $380 and the Mac mini at $480. Apple Watch and iPad values also saw adjustments across various series.

It is difficult to get a MacBook Air right now due to supply chain issues. The new leasing program might help customers manage these higher prices, especially when a trade-in is applied to lower the monthly payment. Apple’s strategy appears to be balancing the high cost of new hardware with incentives to keep customers upgrading on a regular schedule.
